In 2016 within the humble abodes of a University of South Carolina college dormitory, a group of suitemates sat around a coffee table conversing. Reactionary, a tennis ball was thrown across the table to surprise one of the suitemates, but an empty water bottle stood in its way, redirecting the ball and the water bottle to the floor…

“Gotta be aware of those obstacles. -10 points.” says one of the suitemates.

And thus the concept of OB was born.

With random obstacles placed strategically on the table, the students sat around the table in a circle throwing the tennis ball on the table to another trying to result in a missed catch without knocking any of the obstacles off the table.

With the simple, yet strategic and unique obstacle placement each game, the students would continuously adapt the rules to maximize competitiveness and fun bringing in additional players and chairs.

But it needed a name. With a simple layout of obstacles and balls, the name was developed. ObstaBall. Or OB for short - as the students made an O and a b layout with their hands.

“OB, OB, OB” the players would have to say at the start of each game, and before any throw after a live was lost.

Flash forward to 2025, and OB’s Founder, Noah Conner, is trying to bring OB to you!

Living in Denver, Noah is a game enthusiast and found that there aren’t many active games that can be played with more than 4 people at one time with people of different skillsets. Noah wants to share OB with families and friend groups everywhere.

Whether at a park, a backyard, tailgate, or indoor setting like its humble beginnings, OB is a game that is meant to be played anytime, anyplace, with large groups. An OB set now has strategically unique, fun themed obstacles, advanced rule play, a portable table shaped for OB, OB balls, and a portable carrying bag that lets you take OB on the go.
